Forsyth Park Engagement Photos
Getting married to the love of your life is probably the most exciting time in one’s life, and it was so clear to see the love and pure happiness that Bianca and Chris shared with each other. From the moment I spoke to Bianca, I could immediately tell we were going to get along so well. We decided to shoot in Savannah, and the entire experience was simply pure joy. Bianca complained a bit that Chris was acting a little too silly, but I was able to capture some incredibly sweet and fun moments between these two goofballs!
Bianca and Chris decided to take their engagement shots over in Savannah due to the literal location, but also the incredible architecture and charm. One of their favorite things to do during the year is come to the Savannah Food and Wine Festival each year, so they were very well acquainted with the area. The couple chose to use film for their pictures, which created the perfect airy, soft feel that they were hoping for. As I mentioned above, these two certainly knew how to have fun during the session, and kept all of us laughing the entire time! This definitely helped to ease any nerves they may have come in with, and the two were total naturals in front of the camera.
Now of course these two make a pretty fine looking couple, but styling the shoot was a bit more complicated than expected. Bianca had chosen to rent a beautiful tulle dress from Rent the Runway, however, there were some complications in sizing, and although a back-up size was requested, the new dress never arrived. With only a few fleeting moments to hurry and get something new, Bianca was able to find the perfect look in a local boutique, and it fit like a glove! Needless to say, despite the mishaps, these two looked absolutely breathtaking.
As much fun as the engagement sessions are, these are only in preparation for the real challenge: wedding planning. Bianca used to be a wedding planner for venues in the past, so the couple decided that they would plan the entire day themselves. However, her experience had always been in Atlanta, and their wedding was to take place in Hilton Head. They had no idea it would be such a challenge, but it’s safe to say that they did a wonderful job. All of their late nights, missed calls, frantic emails, research, and to do lists paid off. In the end, Bianca and Chris did everything they could to prepare in advance, and on the day of the wedding, they got to claim their real jobs: bride and groom.
When it comes to the theme, the answer was simple for these two: Greek. Chris is Greek himself, and they have always joked that his family reminded them of the family in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. They actually got engaged at the Atlanta Greek Festival, which just so happens to be one of their first dates back in high school. Because of the new movie coming out, they had a bit of trouble coming up with a wedding hashtag, but they definitely still kept their own unique charms. From the Ouzo toast and Kourabiedes (Greek wedding cookies), to the Spanish music and empanada appetizers, they made sure to stay true to their own unique heritages, but join them together as one, just as they did together on that day. The color scheme was a cool navy blue and tiffany blue, with a nice Bundt cake for our handsome groom
One of the most memorable parts of the wedding planning process is picking out the wedding dress. Bianca ended up choosing two different dresses, which surprised her since she hadn’t planned on it! She went into several different stores, and was pressured into buying a dress that she liked enough, but wasn’t in love with. After a lot of thought and regret, she decided to go back out and try on more dresses. With persistence from her mother, she went out of her comfort zone and tried on a self-described “Princess dress”, and sure enough, it was the one. She ended up deciding on the Princess dress for the ceremony, and the other one for the reception, which turned out beautifully.
At the end of the day, no matter what theme you have for your wedding, or what your dress looks like, or where your engagement session is, all that truly matters is the love that is shared between the couple, and that was incredibly evident throughout the entire process. Bianca and Chris were such a sweet and loveable couple, and they instantly lit up any space they stepped foot into. I truly enjoyed getting the privilege to capture their incredible engagement, and I was so honored that they allowed me in to experience this time.
