Palmetto Bluff Engagement Session
When it comes to love, most of the time it is a bit unexpected. It catches you by surprise, makes you think, and helps you to grow. For Zach and Nicole, this could not be more true. Throughout the time that I have worked with these two love birds, it’s easy to tell that their story is truly something to remember. Even just in this first engagement session, there’s something truly special about their spunky attitudes, playful chemistry, and sweet, sweet love. Although they had never been professionally photographed, it’s easy to see that they were pure naturals!
As far as deciding on the location for their engagement and wedding, the choice was simple. Nicole’s family has been vacationing to Palmetto Bluff for eight years, and each visit made her fall more and more in love with the area. Seeing the chapel was the final straw for her, and they both knew it would be the perfect fit. From the vintage feel of the church to the oaks and palm trees, it was almost straight out of a story book.
Engagement sessions aren’t really something you can fully prepare for, especially when you are a new comer to the world of professional photography. Our couple chose to do their session at the same location as their wedding venue so that they could get a dry run of the settings and poses that they wanted on the wedding day, and of course, the backdrop is stunning. They were both a little nervous when the camera started flashing, but after a few tries, they really nailed it!
Our beautiful bride to be actually had a bit of a hard time figuring out what to wear for her engagement shoot (Future brides, take a look at this article to prepare for your engagement session. In the beginning, she had an idea in her head of an outfit, but it wasn’t quite right for the session. I showed her a few ideas on Pinterest, as well as giving my thoughts on a color scheme, and she set off on her search for the perfect look. After days of searching, she found the perfect white skirt, yet no shirt to go with it. The night before the session came, and luckily, mom saved the day with the perfect blouse to go with her new find. The outfits both looked perfect, and suited their personalities to a T.
The wedding planning process is definitely something you can’t practice for, but Nicole and Zach are taking it as it comes. So far it has been slow, but steady. They’ve done a lot so far, however, there is still a ways to go before the wedding next year. The ceremony will be located at the chapel in Palmetto Bluff, and the reception will be at Nicole’s parents’ summer home in the area, which makes for the perfect garden party. The colors will be navy blue, baby blue, white, and a pop of blush pink, complete with assorted greenery to compliment the venue. As far as the dress? That will have to remain a secret until the big day, but I will say this: if it can make the bride cry tears of joy just by looking at it, then it’s sure to be a hit.
Even from the beginning of their relationship, they both had their own special way of leaving their mark on each other. The two met at the MUSC Wellness Center in 2015, where Zach was studying for graduate school. Nicole was interning there and decided to go down to the weight room during her break. She immediately noticed Zach and his friend, Mike, from across the room. Mostly because she thought Zach was handsome, but also because he was incorrectly using the deadlift! Zach also had noticed Nicole, and was definitely hearing it from Mike when he was too nervous to come over and say anything. Eventually, Mike and Zach walked over to get water, and introduced themselves. After introducing herself to Zach, she asked him if his neck hurt from deadlifting incorrectly, and then showed him the proper way to do it! The two didn’t see each other again for nearly 2 months, until they bumped into each other at the center again. That night, Zach knew he needed to make a move, and asked her out on that first date. The rest is history.
For Zach and Nicole, getting married and really starting the rest of their lives together is something that they cannot wait for. The two of them believe that marriage will be a more exemplified and solidified version of their dating experience. They both love to laugh, have fun, go on adventures, encourage and pray for each other, and simply lead and love on one another. In marriage, you are committing to the other person forever, so they both know that there will be continued growth and sanctification in grace, forgiveness, gentleness, and love. And so far, they are making sure to practice every day. Zach is on an extremely busy schedule due to graduate school and work but amidst the chaos, he still makes sure to text Nicole during the day, call every night, and do little things to make her laugh. I thoroughly have enjoyed every moment I have worked with these two so far, and I cannot wait to see them blossom in this new stage of life.
