HONEYHORN PLANTATION WEDDING VIDEO | MEGAN + MACK | HILTON HEAD, SC

A few words from the couple regarding their story…

Megan: I met Mack during my first shift as a bartender at General Beauregard’s the summer before my junior year at the University of Georgia. I knew of him before I got there because one of my friends, Makayla Peeples, happened to be his first cousin. He was what we called a “door guy” (basically someone that checked ID’s outside.) I was nervous about it being my first shift and I knew we had mutual friends so I went outside to chat with him. We quickly found out that all throughout life we had just missed meeting one another. He grew up about 20 minutes from where I grew up, we both worked the same summer job (I quit the year he started,) and we had rivalry high schools. We became friends pretty quickly and would often try to work the same shifts, grab dinner before work, and we would invite each other to different fraternity and sorority events. For two years we would talk nearly every day and we cared about each other a lot. I can remember so clearly that all of our friends would joke that we would get married one day (ha!) I trusted him and counted on him- I think deep down I always knew he would be in my life forever. Somehow Mack knew before I did what our lives had in store because he never gave up on me. To be completely honest, I was not the easiest person to persue. We finally went on our first (real) date a few months before graduation. It wasn’t long before we met each others families. He fit right in with my crazy clan and I immediately loved his. It must have been only a few weeks into dating when I knew he would be my husband. Mack is the most passionate, caring, loving, and hilarious person I know. He is constantly putting a smile on my face and you can often find me in his bear hug embrace. It has been a joy to date my best friend for over two years and I could not be more thrilled to make him my life partner. Can’t wait to meet you at the alter!

Mack: Where do I begin? I began working at a bar in downtown Athens my junior year of college- which is where Megan and I met. I can remember sitting at the door of the bar thinking about everything (other than my task at hand) when I heard a voice say “Hey, you are from Madison country right?” As I turned and glanced a small brown headed female with an infectious smile was looking in my direction. Without a moments notice I said “Yes,” all the while being struck with a sense of home that I had never felt before. We talked about various topics whether it be sports or the weather. Then a thought struck me… I had a date night in the near future and seemed to have just met the perfect date. So, I asked, and she said “Oh, I would love to go but have a wedding that weekend.” Megan is very good at saying NO, as some of you know, so my initial thought was that I had just been blown off. Fast forward a couple years and it would still seem as though I had found a woman with a knack for turning me down. Through my persistence (this is how we are together, ask Megan) I landed a first date at Terrapin Beer Company. As we begin to date the conversations became easier and the attraction stronger. I finally mustered up the courage to tell Megan that I loved her on North Campus the night that she graduated, even though I loved her all along. The rest is history, as they say, and I could not be happier. Megan is an infectious aspect of happiness in my life and I am truly blessed that we crossed paths. I could not imagine life without her. March 30th can’t get here soon enough. We could not be more excited to celebrate this happy time with all of you- without the love, support, and kindness of all of our guests we would not be where we are today. We hope that you all are able to enjoy some island time with us at Honey Horn Plantation on March 30, 2019!
