Mansion On Forsyth Park Wedding
Many times throughout life, we hear the phrase “love at first sight”. We may think back to countless romantic comedies, chick flicks, and other dramatic movies or novels and think, “That can’t be real.” And funny enough, this is very true. As fate would have it, Tirzah and Doug first met back in grad school, and it’s safe to say that they definitely did not experience this phenomenon. In fact, they actually disliked each other a bit. But alas, mutual friends and a college campus would lead to having to cross paths on many occasions. One night, however, during their spring semester, they kissed! It was a shock to both of them, and an even bigger shocked that they actually liked it. After that night, they decided to give each other a chance, and found out they weren’t quite as bad as they had thought. Fast forward five years, and here we are, celebrating their wedding day. Take a look at their Mansion On Forsyth Park Wedding.
Now of course, what’s any wedding celebration without hearing how he popped the question? Since they had been together for so long, Tirzah had kind of suspected that Doug would ask soon, but she figured it wouldn’t be for a little while yet. One December night, Tirzah had just arrived home after a VERY long, cross country flight, and she was definitely ready to catch some sleep. She came through the door, threw her suitcase on the floor, and started getting ready for bed. However, Doug kept stalling and distracting her, trying to keep her from going to sleep. After a long day of travelling, Tirzah was not having it, and kept pushing him to let her be, that is, until she turned around. There he was, dangling a gorgeous ring in front of her. She was so shocked that she actually punched him in the stomach! Of course, she made up for it by saying yes.
Being able to capture Tirzah and Doug’s big day was an absolute joy. For our blushing bride, she sported a gorgeous boho style wedding dress from BHLDN, which is Anthropologie’s bridal collection. The dress featured a darker, bronze underlay, which really made the white lace stand out on top. Complete with a mesh high neck and light fabric, this dress was the perfect fit for their Savannah wedding. Despite how much Tirzah loves her dress now, she originally was a little nonchalant about the entire affair, and even had her sister make all of the appointments! Her favorite appointment, of course, was the one with BHLDN. She says it was unlike any of the others, and the staff was overall amazing. And of course, she looked amazing in it, might I add!
The ceremony itself was definitely one for the books. I always recommend doing a first look (You can see my advice here! http://vitor-lindo.com/how-a-first-look-can-save-your-wedding-day/) , so we started off the day with the first look. Both Tirzah and Doug were overcome with emotion, seeing each other for the first time in their wedding attire. It was a very touching and intimate moment, and Tirzah even mentioned how it was one of her favorite moments of the day. After we had completed those photos, it was time for the ceremony. Everything was going perfectly smooth; her father had just walked her up the aisle, and was getting ready to shake Doug’s hand, when all of a sudden, a phone started going off! To their surprise, it was her dad’s phone. Doug took advantage of the moment and answered the call as Tirzah’s dad, which definitely helped to make light of a sticky situation.
After the ceremony was completed, and the newly wedded couple made their way to the reception, it was time for the party to begin. Tirzah is half Nigerian, so they made sure to incorporate some really fun elements of her culture into the celebration. From the libation ceremony to honor their ancestors, to the goat kebobs graciously provided by the venue, and the “money dance” (where friends and family placed small bills on the newlyweds’ heads as they danced), Tirzah and her family really embraced the Nigerian culture, and gave their wedding a unique spark that they will always cherish. As far as our lovebirds’ favorite menu item, it was easy to decide that the cake was the winner. Which was a gorgeous white four tier cake, adorned with stunning edible roses and leaves to highlight the color scheme. The newlyweds and their guests danced the night away to some sweet tunes by DJ Sugaray, who is based in Atlanta, and enjoyed celebrating the start of their new lives with friends and family.
Being a part of anyone’s wedding day is an honor in itself, but there was definitely something special about this couple. From their constant joy, to their love of life, it was hard not to smile just being around them. These two lit up the room as soon as they walked in, and their smiles were absolutely contagious. The beautiful hues of pinks and corals matched perfectly with Tirzah and Doug’s sweet personalities, and really set the tone for the entire evening. It was truly a privilege getting to capture all of the sweet memories from this joyous day, and I wish Tirzah and Doug all the best as they begin this new chapter in life.
