Hilton Head Sonesta Wedding
Marrying your high school sweetheart sometimes feels like it only happens in the movies, but for Bianca and Chris, this fairy tale ending was a reality. Bianca and Chris met in high school, yet it took them about a year before either one of them would step up to the plate and take things to the next level. According to Bianca, they were the high school sweethearts that everyone loved to hate. She says that you had never seen two people more in love, and that holds true even today. They broke up during college because distance got the best of them, but a few years later, they met again and rekindled their flame.
After dating for a while again. Chris knew what they had was meant to last forever. One of their very first dates took place at the Atlanta Greek Festival, and he decided that was where he would ask Bianca to make him the happiest man in the world and marry him. Since Bianca is a event planner herself, she unknowingly invited nearly everyone she knew to come to that year’s Atlanta Greek Festival and enjoy the time together. Chris took this to his advantage and made sure that as many people as possible were there to see the big proposal. One of their first photos together was at the Greek Church, so he decided to recreate their photo again, with a small addition. As soon as the camera started snapping, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Bianca was caught by surprise, but immediately said yes!
As far as the wedding goes, it is clear to see that they had a blast planning the big day! Bianca and Chris live in Atlanta and have family from all over the country, so they knew that no matter where they had the wedding, everyone would need to travel. After a bit of debate, Hilton Head, South Carolina ended up being the perfect location for their dream wedding. Having a beach wedding had been a dream of theirs for a while, however, they also wanted air conditioning and no weather issues. Once they had searched for a while, they ended up finding Shipyard at Beach Club, which ended up working out exactly as they wanted. There was a large patio overlooking the water, with an indoor space large enough for the entire guest list. It was even close enough to their hotel so that everyone could simply walk over!
Some of their favorite elements of the wedding are actually what made it the most special. Bianca worked tirelessly to come up with creative ways to surprise and delight their guests that had travelled so far just to see them. Some of the highlights included popsicles during cocktail hour, an ice luge for Ouzo shots (a Greek tradition), shoes for guests to change into, and perfectly planned music. Nearly every event in the wedding had a corresponding song, and it made the whole day so much fun.
While Bianca planned most of the wedding herself, the vendors involved really helped to make this day come together. Theresa Anthony from the Sonesta was the official wedding planner, who did an excellent job planning the events of the day. As mentioned above, the wedding took place at the beautiful Shipyard Beach Club, and Sonesta Hilton Head Island did an amazing job of taking care of their guests. Our beautiful bride had plenty of help perfecting her day of look, from hair and makeup by Joy Ross of Style it Salon, to the dazzling gown from Sweet Elegance Bridal, and the shoes from Badgley Mischka, the whole look really was spot on, and Bianca was an absolute vision of beauty. Our handsome men, including our groom, was styled with suits from Menguin and Michael Kors. The rings were provided by D Gellar and Son, and were definitely show stoppers. The food from the day was absolutely delicious, and Sonesta Hilton Head Island and Signe’s Heaven Bound Bakery and Café are to thank. A Floral Affair provided the most beautiful floral displays, and DJ Brent from JLK Events busted out some sweet tunes for the evening.
When all is said and done, the real stars of the night are Bianca and Chris, and the incredible love and romance that they share. They both are so excited to spend the rest of their lives together, and to keep pushing through and facing all that life brings. In their own words, they help calm each other down and make each other better people, which is truly what marriage is all about. I wish them all the happiness in the world, and am so honored that they allowed me to help capture their special day.
